EPISODE OUTLINES 2021
Outlines from episodes recorded in 2021
It is hard to believe that we now begin year 3 of that Good Judge-Ment Podcast! There is a separate page for outlines recorded in each year. We organize them by date recorded and not date published. These are just our rough notes so please forgive typos, etc. NOTE: The COVID-19 pandemic struck in March 2020 (and has continued through the first part of 2021) which changed our recording schedule (and life as we had known it). During the pandemic, we recorded COVID-specific episodes and they are listed by the date of recording-continuing in 2021.
JUDGES SHOULD NOT PARTICIPATE IN PLEA DISCUSSIONS
Recorded 2/2021 - this episode discusses the judge's responsibilities when plea negotiations are being discussed in the courtroom.
REPORT FROM ACTUAL TRIAL DURING COVID
There was a time in late 2020 when jury trials were allowed to resume for a short time. Wade conducted a trial during that window and Tain interviewed Wade about that experience. The attachment is the letter that Wade sent to lawyers to help them prepare for this new reality. Recorded in 2/2021.
20 QUESTIONS IN DOMESTIC RELATIONS CASES
Recorded in 2/2021, this episode includes 20(ish) questions that frequently arise in domestic relations cases and how these two judges typically handle those issues.
No outline for this episode recorded on 3/7/2021 with FOP-Hon. Keith Wood. The discussion was focused on the complicated world of Weapons Carry Licenses and how the Probate Court handles the entire application and renewal process associated with this important issue. Sorry there is no outline-we just picked Keith's brain.
We finally found FOP Garon Muller and he shared the complicated world of apportionment. Recorded 3/15/2021.
ATTORNEY FEES IN DOMESTIC RELATIONS CASES
So...years ago we recorded an episode on attorney fees awards in general and teased that we would also be offering a separate episode dealing with awarding attorney fees in domestic relations cases. We both thought we had recorded that episode back when we teased it but...we didn't. This is that long-awaited episode. Recorded (finally) 3/15/2021. See the chart that is attached to the outline--pretty useful!
4TH AMENDMENT & ELECTRONIC EVIDENCE
In this episode, the guys discuss the 4th Amendment and how electronic evidence is treated by law initially created before electricity.
